How do I convince my parents to home school?

Question by Elizabeth Whatdoyoucare: How do I convince my parents to home school?
I'm 5th grade and I want to be home schooled. I want to be home schooled because I'm already doing high school work, so I get bored in school and I want to graduate early, probably when I'm 13. Anyway, I've done a ton of research, made a power point, and made a portfolio about home school. I've never asked my parents, so how can I sure them my research, I don't want to talk unless they bring it up.

Question by Aleah: How can home-schooling parents start a real school?
My Mom is trying to find out how to start a school so she can paid money for home-schooling my sister and I. How do you do that? Does anybody know? She's been looking online but can't figure anything out. Help?
Somehow scholarship pays for it. She heard about it.

It depends on where you live. In some states, opening a private school is a simple as registering with the state. However funding would come from tuition, and if you and your sister are the only students, who would be paying your tuition?

Good luck :D

Does this sound familiar? "Before you begin a home schooling plan make sure you have evaluated your ability to properly instruct your child and provide a quality learning experience. If you do not think you can handle it, you might as well send your child to school but become more involved with his or her education." Kris Koonar.  Home schooling Advantages And Disadvantages. Parents, beware of articles by people who are not home schooling parents. This is a perfect example of why families should join local home schooling support groups. Home schooling is not as isolated as some people imagine.

Home schooling families come from all walks of life. Home schooling families are responsible educated parents who take full responsibility for their child's learning. They frown upon parents that blame teachers for their child doing poorly. Home schooling parents are parents who want quality education for their child as well, and are willing to provide their child with that quality education, by all means.

Most home schooling parents are willing to sacrifice their financial lives for the sake of educating their own child. The driving force that motivates families to home school is that they do have the ability to properly educate children.

Home schooling families, are well informed about home schooling options available to them." if they cannot handle it", they have plenty of home schooling options to choose from. Families can hire teachers, or tutors.  Families can use other members in home school organizations to support them.  Families can enroll children in Private Satellite programs, Charter home school program, or Online home schools.

The whole purpose of home schooling is to make sure a child is receiving the best education possible. After all, children are our future leaders.

Any Home School families where both parents work?

Question by JasonDark: Any Home School families where both parents work?
Right now, my husband stays home with my 20-month-old son. We're going to home school him, but our home situation may change between now and then. Any experienced home school families, with both parents working, able to give some advice?
This is so encouraging, all of you! Thanks for the good answers!

Best answer:

Answer by Gypsy
I am a part time worker, my husband works full time and doesn't help at all with the kids, house etc.
A lot of families do it with cooperation from all around and manage okay.
My advice to you is to live cheap, and try to do it on one income. I find it really exhausting.

There are various success stories of people starting from poverty and because of perseverance and dedication ends up as successful professionals. Aside from overcoming tedious paper works and lectures, students are faced with stressful situations like the increasing tuition fees of colleges and universities.

When confronted by financial difficulties, students endure many options and possibilities in order to address the problems. Probably the most popular one is that they apply for part time jobs offered in many establishments. On the other hand, applying for scholarships are advantageous for students who meet the university's requirements and standards.
Unfortunately, these options have their share of disadvantages. Part time jobs may re-channel the focus time and energy of student leaving him/her sleeps and tedious to attend classes or to participate in discussion. On the other hand, scholarships are getting competitive since the offer is limited to students who show exceptional academic, sports and leadership skills. It's probably safe to say that the beneficiaries of scholarship grants are few.

So how do you solve such financial difficulties? How do you stop the distressing bills from coming? Do you pay the remaining half of your tuition? How do you handle an angry landlady demanding you to pay the previous three months of your rentals? How about your allowance? Still have anything to buy food or books? Are you familiar to any of these scenarios? Well, we have saved the best option for last.

A lot of students can attest that student loans are the best option since it helps students pay their way to college and the good part, the repayment terms are flexible. Students cant take advantage of the two major types of student loans - the federal and the private student loans. They are offered by two different and important section of our society - the government and the private sector.

These two types are not massively different from another except for the fact that federal loans are financed and supervised by the government through the US Department of Education. While private student loans come from the business groups, corporations and concerned citizens willing to share a huge portion of their blessings to those who need it most, those who need to finish education - YOU.

Student loan interests gains very fair and moderate amount. It encourages you to finish your schooling and will not compel you to pay everything. In fact, you will be able to pay your loans only until 6 months after graduation.  So you can re-channel the times spent worrying to that thesis due in the soonest possible time.

Good news about student loans are it actually covers a wide variety of portion to your financial academic needs and university life - from tuition fees, thick expensive books, materials that you need as requirements to your chosen course, boarding school rental fees and even allowance. Student loans have offers different packages that includes what you may just need or everything that you might need. Furthermore, the over - all amount that a student can borrow can still vary. Remember to consider your financial capability particularly when you are about to begin paying off your loan.

Nonetheless, student loans are provided to students in order for them to graduate nothing more, nothing less.

Think of the next time you join a discussion around home schooling. When you begin sharing the fascinating home schooling facts below, your friends will be absolutely amazed.

Home schooling, despite of its popularity, is yet to have one singular standard for acceptability or validity. This means that as you go all over the nation, separate states have different levels of requirements for home schooling to be duly recognized.

The decision to home school your youngster isn't the simplest one in the books. However, once you've made your decision, it may be a good period to start thorough research and inquiry into state requirements and other guidelines you have to take into consideration once you've made the decision.

There are states like Texas, Illinois, Missouri, or Oklahoma, among others, that do not require informing the state of any intention to home school your youngster. So technically, you may opt to begin your preschooler on home schooling already or pull your youngster out of the formal pedagogical system at your own will, should you decide that home schooling is for you.

Other states, however, would require you to inform the state and your child's school of your intention to begin home schooling. It is only in this way that the state can accredit your child's grade level standing. Alongside this expression of intent and plan is the requirement of the state for you to submit exam scores, progress evaluation grades, and even your child's attendance record. The state may also specify an amount of time that should be spent in this informal school studying the various subjects you intend to teach your child.

The states with tightest home school regulations set requirements of informing the state of your intent to home school your child. Alongside this expression of intent is the submission of the curriculum you intend to teach while home schooling. You may also be tested if you qualify as a parent-teacher when you home school your youngster. State-appointed officers may also visit your home to check if it is suitable for home schooling. Separate from these requirements, submission of periodical documents like exam scores, progress evaluation grades, and attendance records may be required of you as well.

The information about home schooling presented here will do one of two things: either it will reinforce what you know about home schooling or it will teach you something new. Both are good outcomes.

Specified this volume of information that you must be familiar with when you decide that you want to give home schooling a try, where will you find the essential information?

In general, your first and most primary source of information should always be your state or local government unit's education office or authority. You can approach these agencies in two ways either through the agency's website or by visiting the physical location of the said government office. In order to save time and money, you should perhaps visit the website first. This is also most recommended as the primary course of action because of the fact that some of these educational agencies actually upload the necessary forms you have to fill out in relation to home schooling. Some of them even prefer your getting in touch with them and submitting your requirements online !

Next, you may want to check home schooling support groups and legal specialists who have put up various websites on the subject. This way, you will be able to read of firsthand experiences of people who've tried home schooling before, and in the long run, learn valuable tips and tricks in order to make it work for you. They even provide various suggestions on activities and teaching strategies you may want to try as you home school your child.

Much of home schooling is very much feel-your-way-through, so don't be scared to visit these support groups and forums and ask questions. By doing so, you would be able to make sure that you are giving your child the best sort of home schooling you can provide for him or her. Additionally, you can even find out more about the post-home schooling period, which is the time when your child begins applying for university or college, from home schooled applicants who've gone through the usually much longer process.

Home schooling, as it is, is yet to be standardized across the country. Various legislative and administrative changes are underway each day. This is where online home schooling websites may help. They can give you news updates, briefings, and summaries of various state and federal legislation on home schooling. These timely bits of information may lead you better in home schooling your child, and keep you up to date with trends and changes in rules on home schooling across your state.

Take time to consider the home schooling points presented above. What you learn may help you overcome your hesitation to take action.
